Why a degree in European affairs?

conceptThe US Department of Commerce acknowledges the European market as: "a market filled with opportunities. If you're doing business internationally, Europe is too large to ignore. Together, the U.S. and Europe share more than 40 percent of the global economy and transact more than $1.5 trillion per year in trade and investment! Most large U.S. corporations have operations in Europe, and Europe is the largest source of foreign direct investment in the United States. But the European market isn't open only to large companies; small- and medium-sized enterprises do significant business with Europe as well. Europe is often among the first export markets for U.S. companies. When businesses look to Europe, they are looking to an opportunity unparalleled in any other region."

Considering the enlargement of the European Union (EU) to 27 countries, the EU is one of the largest single market in the world with over 450 million consumers! This has huge and far-reaching implications for American business particularly regarding competition law and the freedom of movement for capital, services, and goods within the single market. A unique visiting program has been set up for American and international students in business or international relations. The program focuses on the structure, functions and dynamics of the EU, underlining emerging commercial opportunities and managerial implications for American entrepreneurs. It is organised in Ghent and Brussels, the heart of today’s Euromarket, and consists of symposia and meetings with managers from multinationals, lobbyists, Euro-officials and policy makers at the highest level. Participants get unique access and incisive insights into the commercial implications of European economic integration. It provides our students with an exceptional platform for informal talks, discussions and debates with members of The European Parliament, high ranking EU civil servants, US businessmen and top-level government officials!.

The intensive Visiting program in European Affairs (13 days) and the Diploma in European Business Administration (29 days) offer a special opportunity for US and international students to enhance their career with expertise and first-hand knowledge of the European business environment. The exceptional set-up of the programs was made possible by a strong and extensive network of privileged contacts we maintain with Euro-officials and leading businessmen. There is an undergraduate and a graduate package. Application is open to most students and professionals. Foreknowledge of European affairs is not required.

Field Trips
Visits, informal talks, and meetings with high ranking EU officials and Managers in Brussels are included in the program.
